Bumps, a boo-boo, a bug, and a Bug!
Hopefully the title will make sense as you read through the post. It has been a crazy month around here, including a rough couple of weeks for Samantha followed by a busy couple for all of us. I'm having a tiny break in the middle of the chaos and will try to catch up on what's been going on.
First of all - an update on the walk - Samantha raised $445! Thank you again to all who helped support her! Over $132,000 was raised! That is a lot of people who will be helped.
What I didn't mention in my post below is that the night before our big Walk, Samantha broke out in a mysterious rash. I was getting ready to put her to bed when I noticed a few bumps on her face. When I got her in the light, I saw that they were all over her face as well as her stomach and chest. We gave her some Benadryl and sat with her for about 30 more minutes and then put her to bed. In the morning, the rash was gone. We assume it was a random allergic reaction to something, but we still don't know what it was.
Here are some of the bumps on either side of her face - they were really bad along her jawline.
The following Monday, Samantha got her first big boo-boo at school. Her teacher has the kids pair up and hold hands when they go to the playground so that noone gets left behind as they head to the swings, slides, etc. Samantha and her buddy managed to get tangled up and started falling. Her teacher told me that it appeared that she didn't catch herself because she didn't want to let go of her buddy's hand. Her daddy later told her that it was okay to let go if she is falling. He kept telling her "protective response!"
Here are just a couple shots of the boo-boo (this was right after nap the following day). Oh, and that same night she got bopped in the head with a tennis racket at church and added a little knot to her left eyebrow. I don't know if you can see it very well in these picture though.
A week and a half later we were getting ready to go to bed and she said her stomach hurt and she was really cold. Yep, it was a stomach bug (I'll spare you the details). She ran a temperature of 103+ for about 24 hours.
We made a pallet by the fireplace where she could snuggle with her blankets and the puppies while she watched movies. Fortunately, it was over as quickly as it began and she was back to herself the next day.
And finally to the happy part of the post. We got to spend a whole day with Ansley (Bug)! I think I could have left the house for the entire day and Samantha wouldn't have even known I was gone. She LOVED having Ansley over, and Ansley was such a big help that I LOVED having her over too. We had a fun day just hanging out and then going to the movies, getting Samantha's Christmas pictures taken, and then hanging out some more. The only bad part was having to drop Ansley off at the end of the day. Samantha was just forlorn. We promised she could come back another day and the next time Hannah would come too.
