Christmas at Imaginon

After getting behind in my blogging again, I've almost caught back up to the present. A week ago Saturday, Virginia invited Samantha and I to go with her and her girls to go to Imaginon. It is a children's library in downtown (uptown?) Charlotte. They had a program going on in which kids could "shop" with the help of an elf to buy presents for family members. They also had a place to go see and talk with Santa (more on this later).

I didn't get any pictures of the shopping part of the trip, but the girls had a great time exploring all there was to see. I had never been before, but now that I know what all is there, I am sure we will be back.

Driving the bus with Cameron

Sitting on the trolley and then dancing on stage with Miss Virginia (while watching themselves on TV!)

After the trip to Imaginon we walked a little way and had lunch. When we came back, the girls played on the "art" outside. I thought the typewriter keys were pretty cool.

Are you ready for it? After 3 years of unsuccessful Santa visits, we finally got a happy picture. Samantha has been saying since October that she was going to go see Santa this year. However, after last year's fiasco, I wasn't bettting on it. I don't know if it was having the other girls with her, but she walked right up and climbed in Santa's lap like it was no big deal. She later told me "Santa didn't have a mouth though."

She did throw us a curve ball during her visit. When Santa asked what she wanted (since October, it's been a bicycle), she told him she wanted a "wormy thing." It took a little questioning, but we finally discovered what a "wormy thing that I saw at the mall" is. Whatever... She did ask me a week ago if she could ask for 2 things and if "Santa's that cool?" I told her we'd have to see how she did with her listening skills in the next few weeks.

And here it is! (I also played with the new "add text" feature in Picasa)

Blake is EIGHT and still will not go anywhere near Santa. (He actually asks that we hide his eyes when we pass him in the mall) What a brave little girl.. Cute Pic!

Okay...so I am soooo sorry. The other week when she and I went to Chucky Cheese, I took her by the mall first. We walked past 2 of those "wormy" thing booths and she was enthralled. She said "I really want one"...."those are SOOO cool"... She asked if she could have one. Not knowing how much they are or if you would let her have one (plus those booths are always rip offs....usually), I told her that maybe Santa would be it in her stocking at home or at Mimi's. Oops!! Hehe
