So we've been working on extending our fence this week. When I say this to people, they look at me funny and say "what? You had half a fence?" Well no. I guess a better way to say it is that we are extending the fenced-in area. When we got Walnut we fenced in a small area of the backyard, as you can see in the picture below. Basically the fence line came straight back off the back corners of our house:

Now that was a fine area for a small chihuahua or two to play in. But not nearly enough for an increasingly mobile Samantha. So we are now putting most of the side yard inside the fence as well. Here is a view of the work in progress:

When we are done we will remove the fence with the small gate in it, and move the gate to the other fence. We'll reuse some of the actual chainlink fence material, but the poles for the most part aren't worth reusing. We had to do some funky stuff to them when putting in the original fence. We are funky like that.

Here's the side yard from another angle:

And here's Walnut watching me from a window and wondering what the heck we're doing:

In the next couple days we'll get the fence finished up and then let Walnut run free. It has been an unusually cloudy and rainy past few days. I refer to it as "Washington weather." We don't get that very often here in North Carolina.

LOL! I love the pic of Walnut looking out the window! So funny! Love, love , love the outside of your house.....I wish they would do brick here and it wouldn't cost a million dollars! I actually prefer the Washington weather but I would take a NC house anyday (in Washington!).
